What I got for Christmas - a little surprise from the US ft. NYX & Primark

This is my first post of 2015! YEY! I hope you've had an amazing Christmas and a lovely entrance in 2015! Are you excited about this new year? I know I am!

I know it’s been a while but I really needed this little break to rest, spend time with my friends and family and gather my thoughts. Sometimes you can really get overwhelmed with all the work you have to get done, whether it’s from your job or school, so it’s always really rewarding to have a little time for yourself, to enjoy the little things in live and spend time with those you love.

I got a lot of amazing things this Christmas, and (without wanting to brag!) I wanted to jump on the "What I got for Christmas" wagen and show you what I've got!

From my parents, they got me a few essential bits, as they usually do around this time of the year and I was VERY pleased with what they got me! First off, this gorgeous, SUPER warm beige coat. I love the plaid detailing on the hood and the concealed snap buttons.

They also got me an adorable bobble beanie

– I LOVE IT! It’s so warm and adorable without being obnoxiously girly!

And finally, they got me a pair of gloves, that are fingerless but have a little flap that goes over them in case it’s too cold – they thought about everything! And you can find everything at Primark/Penneys!

From my aunt/uncle, I got an adorable forest green hooded cardigan, that is super warm and adorable! It’s a great alternative from the usual black cardigans I go for! I don’t know where they got it tho, so I can't really tell you!

One of my dearest friends got me the most beautiful little bag EVER! I saw it on Primark and she decided to give it to me! It’s this beautiful muted, grey-ish light blue color, with gold detail on it, it’s absolutely PERFECT! It’s so classic, modern, chic, feminine but it also has a bit of edge to it, I can totally wear this with an all black look and it will add a subtle pop of color to the look without being too much. I LOVE IT!

I also got a little surprise in the mail. No, it wasn’t from Santa! One of my dearest friends from the United States sent me a lovely gift and it was a heck of a surprise! She kept it to things that I can’t directly buy here in Portugal, which is incredibly sweet from her!

Any traditional US Christmas has something we don’t have here in Portugal – CANDY CANES!!! So she was a sweet heart and sent me a pack of candy canes. I would show you them but…. They are all gone now (oops :p ), but I’m pretty sure you can find and buy candy canes at Walmart.

Moving on, she got me two things from Bath & Body Works – a travel sized Twisted Peppermint Body Spray and a Merry Cookie Pocket Bac Hand Sanitizer – IIIIIIIIIIIP! I can't tell you how excited I was when I saw those in the box! She also got me a chapstick from Chapstick in a Candy Cane flavor – YUM!

NOW moving on to the most exciting part – the NYX lippies! She was kind enough to get me 9 NYX lip products and I completely FLIPPED!

She got me 2 of their Butter Glosses – in Vanilla Cream Pie (BLG 09) and Devil’s Food Cake (BLG 22) – 2 of their Matte Lipsticks – in Whipped Caviar (MLS15) and Bloody Mary (MLS18) – 1 of their Butter Lipsticks – in Pops (BLS17)- and, finally, 4 of their Soft Matte Lip Creams – in Antwerp (SMLC05), Milan (SMLC11), Zurich (SMLC14) and Copenhagen (SMLC20).

I will have a review and swatchfest on those gorgeous lippies NEXT so, keep your eye out for that! :p

Before I end this post, I want to thank my lovely, incredible family and friends for going out of their way and give me such wonderful things this Christmas. I am very lucky and blessed for having these people in my life, and I hope they know it!

New Years Party Makeup

As I said on my New Years Party Outfits post (click here if you haven't read it yet!), I made a New Years Party Makeup look!

I used a mix of high end and drugstore products, but you don't have to buy or use all (or any!) of the products I mention! Use whatever you've got!

Face: I kept the face VERY simple. For foundation, I chose the Laura Mercier Silk Cream Foundation - just apply a thin layer all over your face and apply a bit more on areas where you need extra coverage (like under the eyes, on random spots or redness). Set everything with a face powder, like the Maybelline Matte Maker Mattifying Powder.

For definition and glow, bronze, highlight and blush your skin with the Sleek Makeup Face Form Contouring and Blush Palette in light!

Eyes: Start by framing your eyes with amazing, polished brows. I chose the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder to define the brows, and the Maybelline Brow Drama Sculpting Brow Mascara to keep the brow hairs in place!

Moving on to the eyes, I believe a simple nude eye is the key to any party look - specially if you want to look great on photos and in person! The Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette is the perfect little palette to create this kind of look, since it has all the basic shades you need to create any soft or smokey eye look.

Start by applying W.O.S all over your lid. Then, apply Naked 2 on your crease to define your eyes - don't forget to BLEND!

To give some extra depth to the crease, take a small pencil brush and apply faint to the crease line (where your lid goes inwards, right under the browbone!), softly blending it with Naked 2, for a seamless look! Remember - we are not going for a cut-crease look - we are just giving more definition to your eyes, by shading and highlighting the natural shades and highlights that are already there!

Then, take an angled brush and carefully dab Crave super close to your lashline. You can buff it out for a softer look, or leave it as is for a fuller lash effect.

Finally, highlight your inner corner with Venus. If you need something under your brow to lift it up, take your face powder or face highlight and gently blending it on your brow bone, for a natural lifted look :)

Apply one of the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencils I chose (from L to R - Delinquent, Gold Mine, Cuff, Uzi, Corrupt and Perversion) on your waterline and smudge it into your lower lash line - OR you can apply Perversion on your waterline and , with a small angled brush, smudge any of the other colors on your lower lashline!

Then all you have to do is apply mascara. Once again I chose Clinique High Impact Mascara, since it's my fave mascara ever!

Lips: As usual, I give you plenty of options when it comes to your lips, and today's post is surely no exception!

You can opt for a pretty nude, a light pink, a bright pink, a bright red, a dark red or even violet and plum shades!

From left to right, these are the lipsticks I chose:

Charlotte Tilbury B*tch Perfect Lipstick - a BEAUTIFUL peachy nude. Super creamy and luxurious. That packaging tho - SWOON!

NYX Butter Lipstick in Big Cherry - a gorgeous cheery red lipstick, very Marilyn Monroe, super buttery (duh!)!

NYX Matte Lipstick in Aria - violet lipstick, super long lasting! It reminds me of Rebel by Mac, but at a much nicer price point :p

NYX Butter Lipstick in Pops - this is the creamy version of the "Kylie Jenner lip color" - it's a perfect nude, which means it isn't super pale and dead looking -one of my all time favorites!

NYX Jumbo Lip Pencil in Deep Red - this is a gorgeous creamy burgundy red. If you want a less vibrant and more sophisticated red, this is the perfect lip pencil.

NYX Butter Lipstick in Licorice - a very beautiful deep burgundy. I would say this is the creamy version of their Soft Matte Lip Cream in Copenhagen. I LOVE this kind of colors :p

NYX Matte Lipstick in Audrey - this is a mid-tone blue pink, that will suit almost everyone (it can look a bit ashy if you have a very deep skin color). It's bright enough to make a statement, but not too much to be a Barbie pink (their Macaroon Lippie in Rose is perfect for that, tho!).

New Years Party Outfits

Hello gorgeous!!

Just a few more days left of 2014! You know what that means - NEW YEARS PARTY OUTFITS!

I created 5 outfits for you, 1 of them is very casual but the other 4 are more glam and sparkly!

Of course, I will also post a NYE makeup look, so stay tuned and check out my next post!

Look # 1

Let's say you are in a rush, and need to get dressed very quickly - this look is the right one for you! This gorgeous sequin black bodycon dress by H&M is super easy to put on, and it also comes in a gorgeous green - teal color!

If you're in a rush, you're better off with simple accessories, like these rose gold earrings by Miu Miu and this simple short necklace by H&M - fuzz free accessories!

I also chose rose gold pointy court shoes by Topshop, to escape the traditional nude, and a small black and gold mini shoulder bag by Valentino, keeping your hands free but still able to carry all of your essentials!

Look #2

This is a more put together look, with more layers than the previous one. However, if you are in a rush, you can still pull this off, since I spared any kind of jewelry or accessories - the outfit itself is already sparkly enough!

The sparkly skirt and the sparkly black top are both from Topshop and the classy black blazer is from Blackfive.

To keep it simple and quick, I chose these sandals by Jimmy Choo and a simple envelope clutch by Aldo.

Look #3

Going away from the black and silver, I bring you this super chic and elegant white and gold look!

The sparkly gold top is from The Outnet and the gorgeous white pencil skirt is from Jane Norman.

I kept everything else gold and nude, to compliment the elegance and softness of the entire look. The nude pumps are from Steve Madden, the nude clutch is from BCBGMaxazria , the earrings are from Kate Spade and the necklace is from Michael Kors .

Look # 4

In my opinion, this is the most glam look I created!

Starting with basics, I chose a crisp white button up by Mango and black duster coat by New Look. The metallic velvet leggings give the look the right amount of sparkle, also creating the illusion of longer, slender legs. This pair is from Topshop.

Now the show stopper - the gorgeous red shoes from Yoins. How gorgeous are they?! I totally fell in love!

To finish the look, I chose a boxy white and gold clutch by Daily Look.

Look # 5

This is the final look! Yay you've made it this far!

This is the type of look I'll wear this New Years (or pretty much any time of the year, honestly!). I made this look for those of you who aren't going to fancy glam parties, but are going to be out watching the firework and still want to look great!

I created a layered look, in cream - gold - ish tones with pops of burgundy.

The knit sweater is from Irish Inspiration, the flannel is from LL Bean, the jeans are from H&M, the snake skin beige slip-on sneakers are also from H&M.

For accessories, I kept it simple, with this adorable shoulder bag from Blackfive, a gold watch from Asos and gold stud earrings from Lord and Taylor.

Easy Christmas Day / Party Makeup

Hello again gorgeous!

As I said on my previous post (click here if you haven't read it yet!), I put together the perfect makeup look for the upcoming holidays and all of your Christmas parties!

I took inspiration from Pixiwoos latest tutorial, using different products to achieve a similar look - proving you don't have to have all of those expensive things to create beautiful makeup!

I also give you 6 different lip colors (10, if you count each lip product individually!), so you can pick and choose which ever you like best!

I hope you enjoy!

Face: I'm a big believer that creating a great base for you look is the key for any makeup look. On that note, the Urban Decay Naked Skin foundation gives you the right amount of coverage, but it's still lightweight and seamless. Also, a great concealer is key, since it gives some extra coverage only where needed (under the eyes and on any spots, redness and scaring). The Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer is one of the best concealers out there. After all of this work, you want your face makeup to last, so powdering it is essential, specially if you tend to get oily. With a light hand, dust the Rimmel Stay Matte powder (in Transparent - no more color added!) on the areas where you get oily :)

To add some color and dimension back to your face, warm up your skin with a bronzer, like this one from H&M and give your cheeks a rosy glow with this ADORABLE heart blush from Too Faced.

Eyes: If you want something easy that will define your eyes and make them shine, this eye makeup is for you! Starting off with the brows, give them a good comb, then fill in any sparse areas and gaps with this pencil from Maybelline (2 shades darker than your hair if you have light hair and 2 shades lighter than your hair if you have dark hair!). This is surely not the time to experiment with your brows! Just make them look neat and polished :) Finish them off by running this Maybelline brow gel through them, so they stay in place all night long.

Moving on to the eyes, it couldn't be simpler! Apply an eyeshadow pencil in a soft pink shimmery color (like this one from H&M) on your lid, inner corner and inner third of your lower lash line, and softly blend it with your finger, for a smoother look. Then apply heeps of mascara! I really love the Clinique High Impact mascara - it gives volume and length to your lashes, even if you dont have a ton! Apply a thin layer of it on your lower lashes, to define your eyes even more. If you want some extra glam and humf , this pair of volumizing false lashes from Eylure will complete your eye look :)

Lips: The fun part! You can wear any kind of lipstick or lip gloss with this neutral look! All the lippies I chose are from NYX! You can use the combos I put together or wear any of the following lip products by themselves, if you want a more subtle or matte look :)

Combo 1 - Matte Lipstick in Bloody Mary with Butter Gloss in Cherry Pie - perfect blue-toned, cranberry red lip combo!

Combo 2 - Matte Lipstick in Perfect Red with Butter Gloss in Red Velvet - GORGEOUS deep vibrant red lip combo - a Christmas classic!

Color 3 - Soft Matte Lip Cream in Monte Carlo - matte deep cranberry red

Color 4 - Soft Matte Lip Cream in Amsterdam - matte pure red (the feels!)

Combo 5 - Matte Lipstick in Tea Rose with Butter Gloss in Vanilla Cream Pie - if red is not your thing, this is a beautiful mauve-pink lip combo that will perfectly suit this makeup!

Combo 6 - Matte Lipstick in Whipped Caviar with Butter Gloss in Crème Brulee - a glossy version of the so talked about "Kylie Jenner Lip" :p

Easy Christmas Day / Party Looks

It's almost Christmas! Where did 2014 go?!

I bet you've got Christmas parties to go to and of course, you want to look your best on Christmas Day, since there will be plenty of pictures taken.

I prepared 3 looks for you, for 3 different kinds of situations and styles!

I will also post a quick and easy makeup look, with a few lip color options and combos, to suit all of you!

I hope you enjoy ^^

Look #1- Casual Christmas

This look is all about being comfy for the holidays, but still stylish and cute. The base of this look are these beautiful maroon/burgundy high wasted Topshop jeans , with a simple black tee by Monki tucked (or not!) in. I also picked this adorable festive looking hooded cardigan by Choies , that beautifully compliments the burgundy on the pants! For shoes and bag, I went for a camel brown color instead of the safe black. The ankle booties are from Modcloth and the bag is from Asos.

I kept the accessories pretty basic for this look, mixing gold and black. The bowl hat is from Ark , the necklace is from Asos, the rings are from The Iconic , the circle scarf is from Sperry Topsider and the earrings are from Colette Hayman.

Look #2: Edgy Christmas

This is the actual kind of look I'll wear on Christmas Day, to hang out with my family, being comfortable at home. As you can tell, the base color of this look is black - high wasted skinny jeans from Topshop , a furry vest from H&M, heeled booties from Blackfive and a small bag from New Look.

The pops of colors I introduced into this look are this gorgeous burgundy snowflake jumper by Abaday and a plaid scarf by Humble Chic in a beautiful hunter green.

Accessory wise, I kept it very simple, only adding a gold watch by Asos .

Look #3 - Elegant Christmas

This is something else I'll definitely be wearing on Christmas Eve, well, something in this style!

I found this GORGEOUS silver-y dress at H&M and decided to make it a lot more festive. On that note, I paired it with this beautiful red long coat from Chicnova . Perfect Christmas colors, right?!

To complete the look, I paired this dress with simple cotton black tights from Avenue 32 , black court shoes from New Look, a gold and black clutch from Selfridges and, to bring all the attention to your face and decolletage, a silver short necklace with sparkly stones from H&M!

And that's it! Those are my 3 easy and quick to put together looks for all your Christmas parties and for Christmas day!

Last minute gift ideas for the guys in your life!

As promised, here's my last minute gift ideas, this time for the guys in your life!

Like on my previous one, I will give you 3 gift ideas, from inexpensive to expensive. I hope you enjoy! ^^

Dad:

It can be hard to buy stuff for your dad, but it's not impossible!

This Ghirardelly Holiday Travel Mug Gift Set with hot cocoa and chocolate square by Walmart ($7.98) is not only a great gift but it's also going to be a delightful treat on Christmas morning!

Something else every guy should have, specially dad's, is this Radioshack Multitool w/ Flashlight and Compass ($ 9.99, usually $19.99!). Just like a Swiss Knife, this has everything your dad will need, in one compact tool, how cool is that?!

I know clothing can be tricky, but mostly if you are buying for ladies! If you get this Toms for Target Anorack Jacket ($40), your dad will not only be stylish but really really warm, and that's the most important!

Dudes in your life :

With "dudes in your life" I mean a boyfriend, siblings, friends, family members, etc!

Just like I mentioned before, there are MANY things you can get, like scarves and gloves and socks and watches and wallets, but those things are either personal things or way too expensive (but if you can and want to give them any of those things, by no means - GO AHEAD!)

I actually found 4 items for this category, but 2 of them are very similar, even tho the first one is more suited for boyfriends and the second one for friends/siblings/family members!

The "What I love about you Gift Book" and the "Why you're so awesome Gift Book" ($9.95 each) by Barnes and Noble are great personal gifts that you can't go wrong with!

Moving on to a slightly more expensive item, this tabletop game from Momastore ($20), is a freaking awesome thing to give to any guy in your family, specially since it is SO easy to play and it's also super fun :p

Finally but surely not least, this docking/charging station from Etsy ($35) is amazing, not only for guys, but if you have a tech-y guy in your family and you want to give them something that is going to be VERY well used and it's very practical and whoever gets this is going to LOVE IT - guaranteed!

Last minute gift ideas for the ladies in your life!

I'm so sorry for the week without any blog posts - I completely ran out of ideas for things to do for this time of the year, but today I had a complete epiphany and I have pretty much came up with holiday themed ideas for an entire week! So come back every day this week for a LOT of new posts!

Also, another post will be up today, dedicated to last minute gift ideas for the guys in your life (boyfriend, dad, family memebers, etc :> )

But this post is totally dedicated to the ladies in your life, such as your mom, your sister(s), your girl friends or any family member!

I will have 3 options for you (one inexpensive item, a mid priced item and a more expensive / splurge item), so you can pick and chose the best ones for you!

Mom:

For moms, anything sentimental is going to be a great gift!

Firstly, I chose this "What I love about Mom" gift book, from Barnes and Noble ($ 9.95), which has 112 pages with little things for you to fill in the blanks! How adorable is that?!

For the mid-priced item, I think something like a candle is a great thing to give to a mom - it gives the room warmth and a lovely smell, which she will connect to you! Bath & Body Works have lovely 3-wick candles, for $22.50!

And if you want to spend a bit more for your mommy, this lovely initial necklace gift set from Bauble Bar, which retails for $58 dollars :)

Other ladies in your life:

There are MANY things any lady in your life would love, such as makeup, a scarf, gloves, a perfume, decorative pillows, the list goes on and on! But those things can be quite tricky, since usually they are quite personal.

However, there are 3 types of gifts that I think are just perfect and full proof when it comes to ladies: cute mugs, bath stuff and body care stuff.

I found this adorable Swiss Miss Cookie & Cocoa Mug pack at Walmart for 5 bucks! You're giving a cute mug, a candy cane hot cocoa beverage AND a decadent cookie - who wouldn't love that?!

For the bath stuff, you can never go wrong with Lush products, and this Little Snow Fairy Gift ($13.95) is adorable and smells INCREDIBLE, seriously you need to give it a go :p

Finally, The Body Shop is my ultimate favorite place for body care treats. They always have Holiday scents around this time of the year. My favorite this year has to be the Glazed Apple scent and this Glazed Apple Tin of Delights ($31.50) is perfection! You also have the Frosted Cranberry one and the Vanilla Brulee one to chose from! :)

✏ Back to School Series ✏ What's in my backpack ✏

Another back to school post today, making up for the time I spent without posting anything!

This is going to be a quick post, since it's so many stuff but I will tho link everything down bellow, as always!

First off - the backpack! I chose this one because it's fun, it's fashionable, has all of my favorite colors in it and it has room for EVERYTHING. You can get it here !

Before I talk about my pencil pouch (which I haven't featured because mine is so old I couldn't even find it online, but any would do!), I want to talk about how I organize myself.

A planner (here); A 1.5 in binder (here); A flex binder(here); a 13 pocket expanding file (here), so you don't have to carry a big binder with you all the time; a cover folder (here) and of course, you need notebook, and my favorite ones are by 5 Star (here).

Oh I almost forgot! Its handy to have a clipboard as well (here), just in case!

Okay now onto the pencil pouch things, I do carry a LOT of things, just keep that in mind!

Blue retractable pens (here), mechanical pencils (here), regular #2 pencils (here), eraser (here), pencil sharpener (here), a mechanical eraser (here), white-out (here), highlighters (here), colorful pens (here), retractable colorful pens (here), Sharpies (here) and gel ink colorful pens ( yes more.... here). I told you, I have a LOT.

I also have a few other bits (few... who am I kidding?!) that I keep with me in a separate pouch, but that help me study and stay organized!

Lined post-its (here), smaller colorful post-its (here), Scotch tape (here), Post-it tabs (here), scissors (here), glue sticks (here), hole puncher (here), a mini stapler (here) and flash cards (here).

And that's it! It wasn't a ton, was it? Haha I know I have way more than necessary, but I do use everything and well, it helps me stay organized and study better!

✏ Back to School Series ✏ First Day for the College Girl ✏

Another day, another post!

Back with the Back to School series, today I bring you a first day look for the college girl.

In college / Uni , you don't have strict dressing codes and you can be more adventurous with your style.

I kept this look a bit more put together and WAY less edgy, but still comfortable, easy and quick.

Like my other back to school post (click here if you haven't read it yet!), I also included makeup, perfectly suited for all of you starting college!

This look has a very basic base - a good pair of high-waist jeans is an absolute MUST. This pair by Topshop is very easy to put on and it's dark denim wash make them super versatile. Another must is a white button up shirt. This one is by H&M and it has a soft high-low hem and cuffed quarter length sleeves, making it not only cute but perfect for layering. Another thing you'll need in your closet is a pair of simple black slip on sneakers. They are so comfortable and easy to get on, plus they are very fashionable as well! These ones are by Forever 21.

Moving on to the fun stuff, a basic look can ALWAYS be upgraded with a nice jacket. I chose a wide cut jacket in the most beautiful dark teal color by H&M to polish the look a little bit, without looking like you tried too hard.

Accessories wise, I kept everything minimal, dainty and classical. The rings and watch are both from Topshop (rings -> here ; watch -> here), the necklace and scarf are from H&M (necklace -> here ; Scarf -> here) and the backpack is by Topshop as well!

For college, you want to keep your makeup soft and easy but with a little something special. Starting with your base, liquid foundation is the way to go and don't forget to set it with powder! You might be dealing with dark circles, a concealer will be your BFF. Just apply the concealer where you need it after buffing your foundation into your skin, then just take a big fluffy brush and press a light layer of powder on your skin! The concealer is from Maybelinne, the foundation is by L'Oreal and the powder is by NYX.

Another important thing about effortless and fresh makeup is color - your cheeks and lips shall bring life to your complexion. Swiping a rosy blush on your cheeks, softly bronzing your complexion and using a rosy pink lipstick will do wonders! The blush and bronzer duo is by ELF the lipstick is by L'Oreal.

You will also want to bring attention your eyes and make them stand out, so stick with nude colors, that you can quickly apply and rush out the door. A good palette is a great idea ( this one is by Smashbox), as well as black liquid eye liner - in a pen form - (L'Oreal)/ black khol liner (Maybelline) and a nude khol eye liner in your waterline to bring more brightness to your face (NYX) , and a great mascara to really open up your eyes, again by Maybelline.

Oh one more thing! You can't forget about your brows! They frame your face and pull your look together! A good brow kit is a great thing to keep in hand, since it's easy and will help frame your face flawlessly. This on is by ELF.

I also wanted to include a coupe of things that you should carry with you all the time . Hair ties and bobby pins - You just NEVER know when you'll have a hairmergency, so keep them close! The hair ties are by CyndiBands and the bobby pins are by Sephora.

Lip balm is also very important, since it keeps your lips moisturized and protected! The one I chose is by Barry M and it has SPF 15 and a beautiful tinted and moisturinzing finish!

Blotting sheets - aka life savers! Just press them on your skin if you get that odd shine on your face and voilá! Oil free complexion in seconds! This one is by Boscia and it has Green Tree to sooth your skin and absorve extra oils and reduce shine without messing your makeup.

A dewy finish setting spray will go hand in hand with your blotting sheets, since it will bring back life into your skin, hydrate it and help your makeup last all day. This one is by NYX.

Lastly, but surely NOT least, a mini deodorant. No one wants PO right? Keep it with you and re-apply when you feel like you need to freshen up! This little deodorant is by Secret.
