Closet Staples: 5 pieces you NEED in your closet

Tuesday, June 03, 2014

Hello gorgeous!

Today I bring you a special (and long!) post, about things we ALL should have in our closets: my top 5 pieces you should invest on and always have in your wardrobe.
I created 3 different looks for each piece, show casing different kind of styles, so every single one of you has inspiration!

Starting off with the most basic and essential piece: a white top. This can be a strap shirt, a t-shirt, a blouse, whatever you feel the most comfortable on, as long as it's simple, plain and white!

Look 1: The preppy girl. This looks is absolutely perfect for school or for going out and about! It's casual, cool and effortless! Top: Monki / Jeans: Topshop at Nordstrom / Shoes: Lamoda UK
Look 2: Epic Chic. Whenever you want to look chic and put together, forget the all black looks everybody wears! Assemble a all white look for an instant show stopped look! Shirt: Marc Jacobs at Net-A-Porter / Shorts: Miss Selfridge / Shoes: Alexander Wang
Look 3: Trendy Biz. Why wear the same old stuff when you can jazz up a white tank top? Pairing white with prints will make you look fashionable and inside the latest trends! Top: Jades 24 / Pants: Michael Kors at The Outnet/ Shoes: Chloe

Nothing feels better than a pair of jeans that fit you like a glove, right? That's why this timeless piece, presented in so many different colors and textures, is my closet staple #2!
Look 1: Comfy casual. Jeans, a comfy colored sweater and Converse shoes equal major comfort, without looking too lazy! Jeans: Topshop / Top: Chicnova / Shoes: Converse
Look 2: Rocker attitude. You don't have to be a rock star to dress like one, right? Leather looking jeans, a statement top and high heels will do the trick just fine! Jeans: John Lewis / Top: The Outnet / Shoes: Nelly
Look 3: Denim on denim. A preppy fashionable look couldn't look better than this! Denim on denim is big right now, and giving your own edge to this tricky trend can be just what you  need! Jeans: Flannels / Top: Chicnova / Shoes: Vagabond
Another staple that not many people think about (and honestly, most of us is scared of!) is a printed piece. Something that suits your own personality and style, bold or subtle, a print is a way of expressing yourself (just like your complete closet, I shall add!) and your point in fashion!
Look 1: The trendy one. It's Spring, and nothing looks better this season than a floral top. Combining a cropped printed top with light washed boyfriend jeans and white shoes might just be what you have been looking for! Top: Forever 21 / Jeans: Jack Wills / Shoes: Asos
Look 2: The clean one. This is a subtle, interesting look. The print is on the bottom, being toned down by the crispness of the light pastel pink top and white sandals. Perfect for a summery first date or a Sunday brunch! Top: Mango / Shorts: River Island / Shoes: Gap
Look 3: The boho one. A printed dress should already be in your closet, I mean, seriously! It's versatile, quick and effortless! Pair it with the most comfortable pair of sandals you've got and your are ready to go! Dress: H&M / Shoes: Rag & Bone

And since we are talking about dresses, let me introduce me to my 4th staple piece: the oh-so-famous LBD (little black dress, if you've been living under a rock!). Not only is this piece versatile, but it's a timeless classic and fashion icon.
Look 1: The easy peachy dress. This is the kind of LBD you want in your closet RIGHT NOW. It will look amazing on anyone, regardless of your skin color, height and weight, it looks appropriate, feminine and effortless. Pair it with wedges or flats and you've got it all! Dress: H&M / Shoes: Topshop
Look 2: The squared dress. This is a more tricky to pull off LBD. It's squared, which means not much shape will be created or enhanced. However, if you feel lazy and edgy, this is perfect! Again, heels or flats (or even boots!) will compliment it perfectly. Dress: Week Day / Shoes: La Moda UK (similar)
Look 3: The dressy dress. Femme fatal, elegant, classic, those are the kind of adjectives you want to use with this dress! It's perfect for an evening party, a grown up night out or an important event. Of course, stilettos are required! Dress: Starry / Shoes: Gilt

What do you wear with those cute dresses and fancy tops? My 5th and final staple: a convertible nude bra.
You can get them anywhere, and here I show you my 3 favorite ones, from 3 different brands and price ranges. Victoria Secret makes some amazing ones (bra number 1), that sell for 32 dollars. Target also makes an amazing convertible bra (bra number 2) , for 18 dollars. A cheaper and also great bra is bra number 3, from H&M, that is now selling for 7 dollars!

And that is it my dears! These are my 5 closet staples! Which are yours?! Let me know on the comments bellow!

Have a wonderful day!
